About us

Central Tablelands and Blue Mountains Community Legal Centre (CTBMCLC) is a not for profit organisation providing free legal advice to people in the Blue Mountains, Oberon, Lithgow, Bathurst and Orange regions.

We auspice two programs:

  • the Blue Mountains Tenants' Advice and Advocacy Service (BMTAAS), providing advice, advocacy and representation to tenants in the Blue Mountains, and
  • the Cooperative Legal Services Delivery Program (Central Tablelands), facilitating coordination of legal service delivery across our regional network

SUPPORT OF THE ULURU STATEMENT

CTBMCLC supports the Uluru Statement from the Heart. We believe in Truth-telling and that Treaties are necessary for there to be long-lasting reparations and healing. CTBMCLC acknowledges that the post invasion treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, over successive generations, has led to an over representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within the justice system. CTBMCLC recognises that as a community legal centre, we have a responsibility to promote access to justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and provide culturally safe and respectful services.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we work, the Darug, Gundungurra and Wiradjuri nations. We pay respect to past, present and future Elders, extending this respect to all Aboriginal people. We respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of our regions. CTBMCLC is is committed to honouring Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ unique cultural and spiritual relationships to the land, waters and seas and their rich contribution to society.
